Mermaid Villa

The house has a lot going for it, especially the setting. You get total privacy, the sea in the background, and amazing sunsets. There are plenty of beaches nearby, usually quiet, though water shoes are a good idea because of all the stones. You’ll need a car. The village has a small shop with most basics and a few tavernas. Polis is better for a bigger grocery run. We enjoyed the fish taverna at the harbor, and Taverna Christa and Pampos Grill were pleasant surprises. The villa needs attention. It has potential, but parts feel dated and neglected, and cleanliness was a problem. There were loose pool tiles in the garden, wobbly table legs, and a strong musty smell in the cupboards. It needs money spent on it, plus a proper tidy and clean. The owner was lovely and very responsive, though. When the power went out on Sunday, it was sorted within 30 minutes. We also had ants indoors and lots of cats around. We got the ants under control after three days by keeping food sealed or in the fridge and cleaning surfaces and floors. We didn’t feed the cats. There were some drawbacks, but the weather, area and location meant we still had a lovely time. We’ll book a different house next year.
