Anastasia Waterpark Beach Resort

We liked the direct beach access and were generally happy with our 10-day stay at Anastasia Beach Hotel in Cyprus. The dinners were tasty and varied, with something different each evening, though breakfast was the same every day and got repetitive by the end. I’d still recommend it, especially to families wanting a seaside holiday. Housekeeping could have done a better job in the rooms and nearby areas, which didn’t make the best impression. I was glad I’d brought my own toiletries because none were provided. Pool safety also concerned me. Near the lobby, I saw a small child struggling in the water while the lifeguard stood aside looking at his phone. The lifeguards at Anastasia Aqua Park, by comparison, seemed much more professional and engaged.

The food was a real plus, with loads of choice at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the snacks between meals were good too. We’d expected something bad or unclean from the reviews, but our experience was much better. The pool, bedroom, and lobby all felt clean and well cared for. The kids’ water activities kept the little ones happy, and it was easy to relax with a drink at the pool bar. The hotel is right by the beach, with a proper walkway down to the sand and sea. We found it clean and enjoyable, and it exceeded what we’d expected.

We had one of the worst hotel stays we’ve ever had, and I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it. The place was extremely dirty and poorly maintained, from the rooms and corridors to the lifts. The lift hardly worked. We were on the fourth floor with a baby, and each time we had to carry the stroller and all our luggage up the stairs from the third floor. Once we reached the room, the key cards barely worked either. We kept having to go back to reception and lose another ten minutes getting them fixed. The heating didn’t work, the fridge didn’t cool, and the mattresses were old and worn, with broken springs. We’d asked for a baby cot, but what arrived was so dirty and uncomfortable we couldn’t use it. On our last day our baby developed a rash. We still don’t know exactly what caused it, but it was very worrying.

The room was filthy, with stained sheets covered in hair, dirty pillows, a grimy quilt and balcony, and even a dirty kettle. There were cockroaches crawling around too. It felt as if nobody had cleaned in months. When I complained, Theodor at reception behaved horribly. He didn’t help and basically told me how to “sleep in the dirty sheets.” He said he was alone at reception and that I should wait until the next day to speak with the manager. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. Dirty rooms, disgusting facilities, and rude staff. Do yourself a favor and don’t book here.
