Really good.

It'll be amazing once it's finished...
There was lots of space for children's groups, with friendly, helpful staff and plenty of good food. The rooms each had their own bathroom, and breakfast was served as a buffet. It's a shame the owner is turning the place into apartments.
What stood out was how lovely the staff were: kind, willing to help, just as they should be. That's why I gave it two stars instead of one. They couldn't do much more with the resources they had, though. For the same or nearly the same price, I'd look for a higher standard elsewhere. The hotel feels stuck in 1989. The furnishings look like they came from the old days of company holidays as a reward, and the beds have the same old mattresses our parents slept on. The condition shows their age. To me, the owners seem like typical 90s entrepreneurs, aiming for the biggest profit with the smallest expense. Some investment is needed. For a 3-star hotel in the 21st century, the shortcomings are serious: at the very least, newer furniture, bed linen and towels in the rooms. I find the lack of those things inexcusable. The tiny glass TV, about 30 cm diagonally, wasn't great either, though I didn't care much about watching it. A hotel presenting itself as family-friendly should also have functional, safe attractions, not a damaged slide. The location makes evening walks impossible, even with a stroller. There's nowhere to go, and a narrow, busy road runs past the hotel with no way around it. The listing also says WiFi is available throughout, but it's basically only in the first-floor hallway.
We had a really nice time in this retro hotel and it brought back memories of the old days :-). Half board worked for us, though we're not fussy. Dinner was good, and after our excursions it was nice to have hot food. :-)
