Courtyard by Marriott Brno

I’m writing this review because I wasn’t the one who made the reservation. The hotel is well located, about a 20-minute walk from the city centre, and breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had a good selection. The room was clean, but sound insulation was poor. We could hear everything in the hallway, and if you’re travelling with a friend, you’ll hear everything in the toilet too. Check-in was painfully slow: we waited in the queue for 30 minutes, then were told to get refreshments and that it would continue shortly. I thought staff would call us when it was our turn, but everyone got up again and another queue formed. After waiting once more, we finally reached our room a little over an hour later. Staff should be trained to manage their emotions around customers, especially not to go from a very nice smile and voice to an eye roll in 20 seconds. For the prices and star rating, this place is a joke.

Jiří and Marie from the front office took great care of us from the start. We had a lovely weekend, with a spacious room on the 14th floor and a great view. Breakfast was delicious, with hot food, cold cuts, fruit, and granola. We tried the corner for freshly made omelettes or scrambled eggs, and had pancakes too. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the city centre. There’s also a new path along the river, which already looks nice and, I think, will be even nicer in spring. We had a great stay and hope to return soon.

Honestly, the service was horrible. I’m a Bonvoy member from Singapore. I called room service to order food and was told they’d call me back, but after 20 minutes there was no call. I tried again and still got nothing. By the time someone responded, we were hungry and frustrated. Only then did they try to take our order. We’d asked for something simple, a menu and some cutlery so we could eat our instant noodles while waiting for the hotel food. Instead, a staff member came up saying she hadn’t been told anything. There was no menu, no cutlery, and no proper communication. Then they said we could only order three dishes because the kitchen was closing, which nobody had mentioned before. Still no cutlery. We were left hungry and waiting, wondering how a hotel offering room service could have such poor internal communication and basic service. Completely disorganized, unprofessional, and unacceptable. NOT FIT TO CARRY THE MARRIOTT BRAND!

What a drop in standards. When I visited in August 2025, I had Bonvoy's highest loyalty status, and the front desk staff were extra nice. They offered complimentary breakfast for me, my spouse, and our young children, then unexpectedly gave us two vouchers for the hotel bar. Fast forward to October 2025, still at the highest status, and there was no breakfast and a rude woman at the front desk. Next time, I won't bother with this location.
