Hotel Continental

For a work trip, the room was modern, very clean and spacious. A coffee machine would have made it perfect. The hotel is well organized, and the staff are polite, though not very communicative. Breakfast was good.

We won't come back or recommend this for a family holiday. Although renovated, it's still an old, run-down hotel from the 1960s. The orange and green rooms felt unwelcoming, the windows were dirty, and during our two-night stay the cleaning was very poor. They only straightened the duvet, didn't put the pillows back or change the towels. The breakfast room felt cold and undecorated, like an industrial warehouse. It isn't a designer hotel or a welcoming place for families.

One thing to know about the room: the shower opens directly into the bed area through a transparent glass door. We were surprised, but it was fine for us. Whether that feels curious, awkward or spicy probably depends on your own situation. The room itself was clean, nicely equipped and had a very large mattress, plus lovely views from the window. Breakfast was nice, though we missed more international choices, especially savory food, high-protein items and Mediterranean options. Staff were otherwise correct and helpful when needed, but a technician kept knocking at 9am despite our Do Not Disturb sign and said they needed access to upgrade the locks on our floor. We were checking out that day and still showering, getting ready and packing, so the timing was puzzling when they could have waited a couple of hours. Still a solid place to stay in Brno, and I'd recommend it if they wait for guests to leave before non-urgent work.

Brno is a great city to visit, and I love it. I stayed at Brno intercontinental hotel 20 years ago, came back a week ago, and found the rooms, reception, lobby and breakfast area still the same. The staff were efficient. It's a hotel from the 1960s, which may explain why there have been no renovations in 20 years. There are some new orange and blue chairs in reception, but they don't match the building's architecture.
