U Heligonky

The room was really clean and the staff were polite. They gave us a map and directions to the town center. The hallway fridge shared by the rooms was useful, better than having no fridge, and we made ice bottles for the next day. The parking lot was good and locked overnight.

The staff were friendly, and the room was spacious, with a huge couch and a living room area. I only stayed one night, and the overall experience was okay, though I found some big bugs in the bathroom. Breakfast was average: pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausages. The coffee was the one thing I couldn't finish.

The parking is great, and it's okay for a single night if you're driving a long distance. The hotel itself has an old Soviet style and needs major repairs.

Although renovated, the service was quite bad. My Booking.com reservation showed 47 euros, but at reception they asked me to pay 51. Nobody cared that the price, even in local currency, differed from the booking confirmation. Breakfast was bad, too. The rooftop room didn't seem anywhere near 15 m², since there wasn't enough room to move around the beds. It gets really hot in sunny weather and has no air conditioning. At 9 a.m. the reception was closed, so I had to look for someone to return the key. It turned out I was supposed to hand it in at the breakfast desk.
