Hotel Ruze & Wellness

The Hotel Ruze was a lovely choice for a quiet break. Farouk and Nazli were especially helpful, and the staff overall were gracious and knew their stuff. The spacious rooms were clean and had lots of medieval touches. The location made it easy to get to the main attractions. Be sure to take in the view from the terrace.

The river views from our room were fabulous, and the hotel sits high on the hill as you enter town. Our room had everything we needed, whether for a night or a longer stay. Breakfast covered the usual buffet staples. From checking in with Lucia to Tania's massage suggestions and Nazli keeping our bags after checkout, everything went smoothly. Highly recommended.

The taxi mix-up nearly made me miss my train. I was told one had been ordered, but no one had booked it, so I had to sort it out myself at the last minute. The request apparently got lost while the only employee with limited Czech was busy. I also ended up translating for the receptionist when a dry-cleaning representative came in, explaining that he needed to speak with the housekeeping supervisor. The terrace and bar were both closed during my May stay, despite the warm, sunny weather. At the spa, staff saw me and carried on talking to each other without greeting or helping me. Reception was just as frustrating: the staff spoke little or no English and seemed unsure about the hotel's facilities and services. The bathrooms near reception were in such poor shape that I'd avoid them, and dust looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. I came to Český Krumlov hoping to relax, but the poor communication, cleanliness, and service made this one of my most disappointing hotel stays. Guests seemed more like an inconvenience than a priority. I wouldn't return or recommend it. Such a shame, since the hotel has potential.

The location, interior, breakfast, and parking all stood out during our visit. The front desk was staffed around the clock, too. Special thanks to Nazli, who helped us and explained everything clearly and thoroughly. We had a great time.
