Pension Falko

We were on the highway with our child, and traffic meant we couldn’t say exactly when we’d arrive. We asked to check in just an hour later, but the hotel refused outright. There was no flexibility or understanding, and no hospitality. They also wouldn’t help us cancel the reservation. They kept our money, and we were left stranded at night with our child, having to find somewhere else at the last minute. I’ve stayed in many hotels, and I’ve never had worse customer service. If respect, flexibility, and basic decency matter to you, don’t book here. There are plenty of other hotels that treat guests like people, not just money.

The location suited us perfectly. We arrived by bus, and it was a short walk over cobblestones to the pension. From there, it was easy to reach both sides of the river. Breakfast was included and very good quality, with fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, boiled eggs, cold cuts, yogurt, breads and jams, plus a decent hotel-style coffee machine. Our room was spacious and very clean, with good Wi-Fi, duvets, a desk, enough chairs, a bench for luggage, a fridge, and a welcome bottle of mineral water. The hot water had strong pressure, so be careful. There was no soap or shampoo for the shower, which was also the case for us in Prague. This is a pension, not a luxury hotel, so don’t expect huge fluffy towels. Our host Franz, if I heard and spelled that right, was exceptionally helpful. The regular check-in time was already early at 13:00, and he let us arrive an hour before that. The next morning he also kept our bags while we explored until our 11:40 am bus. We’re in our 70s, middle-income travelers who value good service, location, and value, and this place suited us on all counts.

Breakfast was fresh, generous, and clearly prepared with care. The rooms were cozy, spotless, and quiet, and all the main places are within walking distance. Mr. Seef was so warm and helpful from the moment we arrived. He was glad to give us advice and made sure we had what we needed. We only stayed one night, but left smiling and would definitely come back. A peaceful guesthouse with a family feel, and one we’d happily recommend. ❤️ Kamil and family 🙋‍♂️

I had to cancel the day before my trip because of an unexpected health problem. I’d booked two nights through Booking.com three days beforehand, and the reservation was non-refundable. I emailed the pension to explain and asked for understanding. I know the Falko pension acted legally, but four days have passed without a reply. I’m still planning to visit Cesky Krumlov, though I definitely won’t choose the Falko pension.
