Chalupa Pod Studánkou

A great young woman was happy to show us around and offer advice, and the owner was very pleasant and available if needed. The cottage itself is comfortable and well equipped, with room for a group or a larger family. There's a great ski slope nearby for less demanding skiers. Highly recommend it.

This was our third visit, and our last. The cottage was untidy three years ago, when the owner called in a cleaning service, and after all that time it was in the same state, if anything worse. We had to wash the greasy, dirty dishes before using them. The toaster and waffle iron were there, but covered in cobwebs and old leftovers, so they put us off breakfast. There were ashtrays full of cigarette butts all over the rotunda. The cleaning crew seemed to have left various things behind too: the bedroom closets held items from past guests, and the furniture was in poor shape. We raised these issues with the "brigadier" when we left. They said they couldn't inspect everything during four hours of cleaning. There was no apology or sign of reflection, just a bit of ash from the ashtray sprinkled on your head. Thanks, but we don't need weekend stays where we have to pre-wash the dishes.

The games room, with billiards, darts and table football, kept us busy in the evenings, and we also enjoyed having an outdoor pergola where we could make a fire. The spacious rooms gave everyone privacy, while the cozy living room and fully equipped kitchen made the cottage comfortable for our large group, children included. We had a lovely extended weekend at Chalupa Pod Studánkou. It's a short walk from the ski slope, which worked well for winter activities, and there are walks nearby too. The cottage was beautifully decorated and clean. Everyone was friendly and helpful on arrival, explaining how things worked and telling us about the area so we could settle in. It's a good place to relax or have an active break, and we'd be happy to come back.

The beds were in awful shape, with missing slats, stained mattresses and smelly, horrible sheets. The towels were washed but smelled bad and weren't fit even for floor rags. There was dirt, dust, a musty smell and stench throughout. We were glad we'd brought our own things. I always dreamed of a mountain cottage in winter, but after five nights here over New Year's Eve with my children and friends, I've lost the desire. They say it sleeps 15, but I can't imagine where everyone would fit. I won't attach photos, even describing it makes me feel sick. The fridge was half broken and missing shelves, leaving us to pile our food together. The dishwasher was unreliable, and the stove was hard to use because the markings on the knobs had worn away. The stove itself looked awful. For the outrageous New Year's Eve price, we could have stayed in a luxury hotel with a pool, yet there weren't even glasses for a toast. We had to wash the kitchen dishes thoroughly, and luckily we brought our own glasses. When we moved a bed so our friends could put their ten-month-old baby against the wall, we felt like throwing up. The advertised playroom downstairs was cold and stinky, and the billiards and table football were falling apart. The cottage may once have been nice, but that was clearly a long time ago. We spoke to the owner when we left, but he wasn't interested and seemed unpleasant. I definitely don't recommend it.
