Hospoda Na Jizerce

Really nice stay. The rooms were cozy, the owners were lovely, and the food was great 🙂

I was relieved I never went inside Hospoda na Jizerce after reading the earlier reviews and the owner's replies. I wouldn't want to be called a “heavenly cow.” The way the owner comes across reminds me of the innkeeper in The Inn at the Clearing House by the Jára Cimrman Theatre: he opens a pub, then gets annoyed when people show up, even though that is the whole idea. The name and the big “Hospoda na Jizerce” sign are misleading. It is called a pub, but it's actually a guesthouse, and its restaurant isn't open to the public. The website also says the restaurant is open to guests and visitors, which leaves me wondering what the difference is between those two groups. We only spoke with the staff by phone, and they weren't very friendly. If the idea of potential customers stopping in for a snack bothers them, they should change the name and take down the pub sign. Then no one would bother them.

The rooms are comfortable, each has its own bathroom, and everything is always very clean. There's also a separate common room where groups can spend the evening, with a beer tap for pouring your own. Our group has been coming to Hospoda na Jizerce for cross-country skiing for years. The location works perfectly, with free parking right outside and the ski track starting there. The hosts are friendly, and the half-board is well worth it. They always have vegetarian dishes too. We'll be back! :-)

After a day of skiing, this is a lovely place to unwind. It's quiet and peaceful, things run smoothly, and the breakfast and dinner are amazing. Mr. Kraus's wine is great too. Thanks to everyone who prepares the cross-country ski trails. We had a wonderful sports holiday, thank you.
