Hotel Obří Sud

We came for two days and found it a great base, with Prague and Liberec nearby. The place is ideal for unwinding in nature. The rooms were very clean, the staff friendly, and the service excellent. The restaurant is well worth recommending.

The Czech food was hearty and there was plenty of it, and the service was friendly and attentive. It’s a lovely, peaceful location. The bathroom ceiling could do with a fresh coat of paint. I’d definitely recommend the place.

Dogs are genuinely welcome here, not just allowed to stay. Ours could join us in the restaurant, and the fee was only about €7 a night. We’ve had very different experiences in other Czech hotels and restaurants. We’d happily come back. The location is hard to describe. As guests of "Reisen aktuell" traveling with a dog, we felt our room was a little out of the way, just beyond the main area, though that was perfectly fine. Breakfast was good, but the only change from day to day was scrambled eggs one day and fried eggs the next. The three-course half-board dinner, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious.

Everything was spotless, and we felt right at home. Our room was roomy, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast had plenty of tasty variety, and the restaurant served excellent food, including meat raised there and beer brewed there. The quiet, idyllic natural surroundings were wonderful. Nothing to criticize, and we’d love to return after such a lovely weekend.
