I left the restaurant after a waiter told me I couldn’t eat the snack I’d brought in. I have coeliac disease, and there was nothing on the menu without allergen 1, so I’d bought something at a nearby shop. Eating out is already difficult for me, and it was upsetting to be told I couldn’t eat while my family had their drinks and two course lunch. I explained my medical situation, but the waiter said he didn’t care. When I asked if he’d rather I go eat alone in the park, he said yes. I can’t speak for the whole restaurant since this was one waiter, but that lack of empathy was hard to deal with. It felt like discrimination against someone with a serious dietary need.

The wellness area looked new, clean and nice, though it smelled strongly of chlorine, which may have been temporary. Food was good but not great, and the beer was average. For the price the accommodation wasn’t bad, but there’s room to improve: the furniture is old, and the bathroom could use a proper clean or a complete renovation.
