Great.

A quieter location, and a great place for families or a group of friends, except that we happened to visit on a busier weekend. The owner was lovely and helpful. I didn’t even take pictures because the rooms look just like the photos on booking.

My friend and I stayed in August, paying extra for comfort, about 1100 CZK per person per night without breakfast. We booked a specific, most expensive apartment for 3-4 people, with a double bed and a separate bed in another room. We were given a dark room for two instead, with a small window facing a busy road. When we complained, the owner was unpleasant and said our room was already occupied. She also made strange comments about why two girls needed such a big room. We still had to pay for it. I found the whole approach very disrespectful to customers. She then offered another room, supposedly for four, with a sofa bed, but that was terrible too. The metal bed creaked, the skylight had no blackout, noise came from the neighboring apartments, and the fridge humming from the cheese factory kept us awake all night. The living room sofa was advertised as an extra bed for two, but it was short. I’m only 168 cm tall and still had to sleep diagonally. It was incredibly hard and creaky, with a hard board or partition pressing terribly against my shoulder blades. I’d recommend the owners spend a night in their pension when it’s fully occupied, and try the beds they offer guests for about 1000 CZK per night, especially the sofa in apartment no. 5. We were both very disappointed by the accommodation and by Mrs. Kroupová’s attitude. I travel a lot and have never experienced such terrible behavior and conditions anywhere else.

We stayed in July 2018. The rooms are in the attic, reached only by awkward metal stairs, and there’s no TV. Dolní Dunajovice also seemed completely uninteresting compared with places like Pavlov/Horní, Dolní Věstonice, and Perná. The apartment was modernly furnished, but not very practical. There was no bathroom mirror or towel hooks, and the shower had little light. One small street-facing window left the room dark all day. It was very hot with no way to air it out: the only small window wouldn’t close, and the fan didn’t help. Street noise started around 6 am. We were given only hand towels, though luckily we’d brought our own. The bed had very small pillows; after we asked, the owner gave us standard-sized “protective” pillows the next day. On the positive side, there’s a great shop selling homemade cheese, wine, and other products, and the staff were friendly. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here. In my opinion, the owners are trying to offer accommodation in a place that isn’t suitable for it. The effort shows in the nicely furnished rooms, but basic things like enough light and a comfortable temperature still aren’t addressed.
