Penzion u Černé paní

We rented the pension’s rooms and liked the surroundings, but I have mixed feelings about the stay. It didn’t feel suitable for families with children. There was no way to wash our own dishes or get clean ones otherwise. The water at the garden’s back bar wasn’t running, and several bags of rubbish and dead mice were left there the whole time. Midweek, a few people arrived, probably the landlord’s parents. They didn’t introduce themselves, but left us a letter complaining about food and drink under the pergola, even though we were the only guests in the whole pension. I also don’t know whether they went through our rooms. The pool was nice, but its heating wasn’t working, and my daughter’s and her friend’s hair turned green.

We’re sorry the visit left you with mixed feelings and that so many misunderstandings came up. The pool is chlorinated, and we’ve never encountered the green hair issue before. It can happen after hair has been dyed with peroxide, due to a chemical reaction, though your hairdresser should tell you about that. The bags of rubbish were left after the barbecue by the lady herself. The rear pergola is meant as a place to relax, not as a kitchenette. We also asked that uneaten food not be left scattered on or under the table, since the guesthouse is in a village surrounded by farms with animals. We repeated that in the letter. The lady hadn’t rented the whole guesthouse, which isn’t possible, as this is a guesthouse rather than a cottage or similar resort. She had stayed with us in earlier years and booked four rooms. Breakfast was included, and she understood there was no kitchenette in the accommodation area. Still, as a goodwill gesture, we washed their dishes in the dishwasher several times.

We really appreciated the owner, who was kind, helpful, and did everything she could to make our stay work. The guesthouse is in a great spot for trips by car or bike, and the grounds are lovely too. The garden has a pool where you can swim, sit, play ping-pong or air hockey after a long day out. The rooms were clean and well cared for, and the whole place was beautiful and tidy. We never got to stay because Mr. Čížek cancelled our reservation five days before departure. He’d confirmed it with me on 18.2, but almost six months later sent just an SMS saying he was cancelling for technical reasons, then immediately switched off his phone so I couldn’t call him. 😡 Luckily, we found somewhere right next to Mr. Čížek, so I could see for myself whether it was operating. It was full, and clearly open 😡. I wouldn’t recommend booking if you don’t want this kind of adrenaline just days before you leave.
