Camping Amerika

There’s a lovely forest walk or ride into town, and the town is well worth exploring. The camp sits on a hill by a lake, south of town. There’s no tree cover, but the facilities are good and well maintained, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The staff are friendly. They don’t speak English, so you’ll need Czech, German, or Russian. There’s a bar and food too, though I ate in town and can’t really comment on that. The staff there seemed relaxed and friendly as well.

We only wanted coffee and dessert, and checked in advance whether card payment was okay. At first they said it was. After I’d taken two sips, the owner came back shouting that we couldn’t pay by card after all and that he wanted to take our drinks back. He took them away instead of trying to sort something out, like a phone transfer. I found that rude and the service bad. I can’t recommend this restaurant.

The staff came across as curt, and we had a disappointing stay at Camping Amerika. The facilities weren’t as clean or as good as we’d expected. The shower curtains had a lot of mould, and the showers had no doors. You had to share a wooden unit for your things with another person, which felt uncomfortable. The shower buttons only gave you water for a few seconds. The toilets and sinks weren’t very clean either, and some of the field’s electrical hookups didn’t work. What a pity. This was the worst campsite we’ve ever visited, and we don’t recommend Camping Amerika.

The toilets and showers were clean, with hot water, and the rental includes a kitchen and dining room. Service was nice and the rent was cheap. There’s a beautiful lake nearby, along with a small zoo you can visit for free.
