Depandance Slezský dvůr

We enjoyed the annex, and were very happy with the sauna at the guesthouse. We brought or bought what we needed, so in the end we still enjoyed the stay. The kitchen equipment felt inadequate, though. One fridge for four rooms, meaning four families, really wasn’t enough. There are small fridges in the rooms, but the one in the hallway wasn’t even plugged in. I’m not sure how families who don’t know each other manage sharing such limited equipment. We also missed some basics: a Teflon pan, a more hygienic cutting board, a jar, oil, a dish sponge, and hand soap.

It’s a cozy place with good service, though a few things could use attention, like the peeling shower. We also ran into trouble trying to pay by card. The website said cards were accepted, but the annex owner’s sister, who we were meant to pay at the main hotel, was evasive and then unpleasant. We had to press the annex owner to sort it out with her because we don’t carry 10,000 in cash. Maybe the sister was trying to pull some trick with cash, or couldn’t handle a cashless payment. Who knows.

Lovely and peaceful, with mountain views and deer coming almost right up to the building. There’s a terrace and a small garden. The recently renovated rooms are clean and heated, and the bathrooms work well. The kitchen and dining table are shared, along with dishes, pots, cutlery, a kettle, and a refrigerator. No TVs or radios.

The area is worth a visit, though the place has a rather distinct German-Sudeten rigidity in its manner. Every country has its own customs, after all. The standard is good.
