5. 2025 The building, room size, and location are the good points. But the old man at reception was rude and made inappropriate comments, which was totally unacceptable. The rooms are very old too. It feels like the owners are just trying to make money from the place until it collapses. Don't go, it isn't worth it.

The hotel's in a great location, and the rooms, though old-fashioned, seemed really clean. That's about all I can say in its favor. There are no parking spaces, which we'd been told beforehand and could have accepted. But when we asked reception about nearby parking, they said they didn't know and weren't responsible for our car, which was really rude. The man at reception was unwelcoming and rude. He said I had to pay a “city tax” of 18 euros per person, but it should have been only 4 euros for our stay. The hotel looked abandoned, with literally nobody around in the first few days, even though booking showed it fully booked. Don't expect advice or help from staff, who weren't welcoming or even there. Parking is a big problem in Karlowe Wary, so I'd choose another hotel, especially one with parking. This wasn't worth the price.

Breakfast really was great, as the reviews say. The room was clean and nice, with plenty of open space and a high ceiling, but the single heater by the window barely kept it warm. The bed is fine if you like a very, very hard mattress. The building is old, and the even older furniture made strange noises when we moved around. The walls could use a paint job too. There was a minibar, but the fridge was so noisy it woke me a few times on the first night. The location is good, though parking nearby can be a bit of a problem.

The wallpaper was peeling, and the furniture and beds were dated. Don't be fooled by descriptions like “venerable and period styled”, it's just old and poorly maintained. We got a lousy welcome and the wrong room. Nobody helped sort it out until we made a major complaint, and then nobody assisted with moving our bags to the new room. We were put in a different hotel for the night and weren't offered a discount. Avoid it like the plague.
