Hotel Marttel

The location was okay, about a 10-minute walk to the centre. Breakfast was nice, and the woman at reception was friendly.

The Wi-Fi, breakfast, and beautiful shared areas helped make up for a disappointing stay, but I’d probably choose somewhere else next time. The rooms are small, with no climate control, and the pillows were much too large for my liking, though the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was cramped and in poor shape, with rusty fixtures and a damaged shower. Most of the staff were rude, apart from the woman at checkout.

The reception team were especially helpful, and the other staff were friendly too. Breakfast was reasonable for the price, with rolls, chlebicky, bread, cheeses, salami, ham, eggs, bacon, cereal, and jams. The walk to the Center takes about 10-15 minutes, and the return is steep uphill, something to consider with children or elderly relatives. The bigger problem was the cigarette smell throughout the rooms, in the carpets, curtains, walls, and furniture. I switched rooms, but the next one smelled the same. The pillows were hard and uncomfortable for me, my sister, and her partner. The bathrooms felt decades out of date, with yellowed shower curtains that were too long for the shower. I wouldn't call this a “hotel“.

For a one-night stay at this price, it was safe and fine. It's a recovery hotel, and the rooms have a hospital feel. Mine had a strange odor, the bed wasn't very comfortable, and the bathroom was sparse.
