There’s a great wine cellar with a big selection, and when the weather’s right you can also swim in the pool. The rooms were very clean and the facilities were great. It’s about a 15-minute walk up to the castle ruins on the nearby hill, a beautiful spot to watch the sunset with a glass from the cellar. We had a wonderful stay.

The guesthouse is lovely and cozy, with a very nice owner. The ruins of the Orphan Castle are about a 20-minute walk away, and Mikulov is 5 km away. There’s a private wine cellar with a wide selection of lava wines from a quality winemaker in Dolní Dunajovice. The garden has mature trees, a children’s corner, and a saltwater pool. Pets are welcome for a small extra charge, which we used. Cleanliness and ecology are clearly a priority here. We’ll recommend it to friends and definitely come back.

The reservation couldn’t be refunded, so we decided to stay rather than make the trip even more complicated, though in different circumstances we’d have preferred to cancel. We never felt welcome, more like a burden. We’d arranged to arrive between 8 and 9 PM in advance, and that was confirmed. But when an unexpected problem on the way meant we might not make it by 9, we let them know at 6 PM. The woman responded reluctantly and even hostilely. During the stay, basic friendliness was missing. Greetings, good mornings, and goodbyes seemed to be foreign words. The accommodation was clean, which was fine, but feeling accepted and respected matters to us just as much. That was missing here, and it left a sour taste after what was otherwise a beautiful trip to Moravia.
