Spa Hotel Garni Löwenstein

The breakfast let the place down: we arrived ten minutes after eight and the food had been picked over, with nothing replenished before nine. There was one shrivelled apple, two pieces of pepper, a couple of spoonfuls of oatmeal in one bowl, and a few slices of salami. The room itself was beautiful, large, and airy, with a kitchenette and couch.

The studio wasn’t bad, but it felt like too much luxury for one night at 2700, especially when the hotel was completely empty and that was the only option offered. For that price, I expected at least a shoehorn. The shower hose wouldn’t stay in the shower head. In the morning the internet was down, the reception phone didn’t work, and calls on my mobile were completely incomprehensible. Breakfast was substandard, with no real choice: one beefsteak, one sausage leg, and a small plate with a few slices of bacon (3 pieces), a few rounds of salami, and some cheese. We had to ask for a second beefsteak and waited a long time. I think the service would have been fine if she had welcomed us, asked what we wanted, and replenished what was missing. We were alone at breakfast. There wasn’t even a container on the table for butter wrappers and the like, which should be a given in a 4-star hotel.

The shower could use a little shelf for personal toiletries like shampoo and conditioner. We also found the TV placement illogical: it couldn’t be angled toward the wall, so it wasn’t comfortable to watch from the small sofa or the bed. The room has a double stove and a kettle, though not an electric kettle, but there’s no small dining table and chairs for eating anything you cook. Still, we liked our stay and will recommend the place. The location is nice, and there’s free parking. Breakfast staff were professional, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast was great, with freshness and quality first; the machine coffee was excellent and the homemade oatmeal was TOP! The room was spacious and modernly renovated, with two sinks and a big shower where four people could fit comfortably :D. There were just those minor shortcomings.

The rooms are really nice and spacious, and the surroundings are quiet. But the hotel doesn’t seem prepared for a full house: everyone ends up having breakfast at roughly the same time in the small room set aside for it.
