Hotel U Zvonu

The room was larger than I expected, and the basic accommodations worked fine. The staff were friendly and helpful, though their English was limited, which could make more complicated questions difficult. It’s a good location for the main sights, and the price and photos make clear this isn’t a luxury hotel. There’s no AC. My room had a tiny window and barely any breeze, so it got a little warm at night in mid-May. It wasn’t too bad then, but I wouldn’t have wanted that room during hot weather. I added breakfast at check-in without thinking much about it. It was decent and I was glad to have it that day, but for the price and selection, I’d recommend eating elsewhere.

We got good value for the money, and the place was practical for seeing the city. The location is great, the Wi-Fi worked well, and card payment is accepted. Breakfast was very good. There’s no private parking, but on Saturday afternoon we found a free spot just outside the hotel. The bed was too soft, and the pillows were awful.

The staff were friendly, which was the good part. The breakfast had very little choice: there were cornflakes but no milk, and only two pieces of each kind of meat. The small hotel also had a noisy, uncomfortable bed and thin pillows. There were several other problems. The bathroom smelled, the towels were smelly and stiff from drying outside, and the walls were so thin we could hear the neighbors and their TV. There were sharp edges on the window, and the ventilator was covered in dust and couldn’t be cleaned.

It was fine, and four stars feels fair. We didn’t eat at the hotel.
