Pivotel Mmx

There were hardly any other guests while I was there. The place is called Pivotel, and it sits next to a huge drinking hall with a hotel of its own. The modern look has an old-school carpet floor that wasn’t my style. If exposed concrete and an industrial feel are your thing, though, you might like it. The beer was just medium, and of the 20 on the menu only 4 were available.

The beer from their own brewery is among the best in the Czech Republic, and the restaurant is really good too. The food was very, very good. Great hotel.

I’m reviewing the restaurant, especially the staff and kitchen. The space itself is modern, clean, and roomy, but the service and kitchen weren’t good. With my dietary limits, no milk, gluten, or meat, there was nothing on the menu for me besides french fries. That’s my choice and my problem, but the staff weren’t willing to improvise or offer anything off-menu, like boiled or scrambled eggs, even though this is also the hotel’s breakfast restaurant. I was also turned away from ordering a hot meal at 9:20 because the chef said the kitchen was closing at 10 and wasn’t willing to make one. That seemed strange. I don’t plan to come back.

The room felt modern but kind of cold, and street noise made it super loud. The windows wouldn’t open all the way, so fresh air barely got in, and the fridge didn’t work. There were some nice things too: the brewery restaurant downstairs was a cosy place to hang out with friends, a shop across the street made it easy to grab snacks or drinks, and breakfast was good, with cheese, vegetables, fruit, eggs and more. The staff were friendly.
