Hotel Ještěd

We had a good experience overall, and the apartment was excellent. The ventilation system is incredibly loud, though. If you have a small baby it might work like white noise, but if you’re sensitive to sound, well… There was a great selection of Nespresso pods, but no kettle or tea bags, which seemed strange and was a shame. The restaurant could’ve used a more attentive touch from the staff. Nobody greeted or seated us, and we waited a few minutes. It was the same at breakfast, with no staff around at all. The wine list needs some work too.

I can’t comment on the rooms since we didn’t stay at the hotel. The building looks like it hasn’t been renovated in a while. The downstairs bistro has no stools, and you can’t take food upstairs to the restaurant. The windows are dirty, and some of the tables behind the glass look awful. There’s a lot of potential here, so it’s a shame it isn’t being used. Someone should seriously renovate the place. I’m including a photo of the entrance taken today. The lobby and restaurant area look better, of course, but I think the entrance reflects the building’s atmosphere and might prompt the owners to do a more extensive renovation.

You can’t beat the location at Jested Tower. The tower is impressive and such a fun, interesting place to stay, with comfortable, unique rooms and an excellent restaurant. A must-see if you want an unusual stay in the Czech mountains.

The hotel’s got a lot going for it if you like nature, history, or architecture. The views are stunning, and the place is completely unique. It feels dated and cramped, as I don’t think much has changed since ’73. Some rooms also lack ensuite showers and toilets, which is a bummer. Still, the staff were great, the restaurant food was excellent, and the bed was clean and comfortable.
