Jiri made us feel so looked after. He gave us a tour of the apartment and said there was no rush to pay. Whenever we saw him, he greeted us with a warm smile, carried our bags, and even offered to drive us to the station when we left. He also speaks German if needed. The apartment has a rustic cabin feel, with a vintage sofa and armchair, a glazed clay tea set, and slightly uneven hardwood floors that were charming and no trouble at all. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, and the mattress and duvet felt like expensive latex. At night, the village was silent except for the soothing sound of wind, and we woke up feeling recovered from several tiring days of travel. From inside, the view of the frozen river, snowy cliff, and hills was like a winter movie set. The house across the way was unoccupied, so we had a lot of privacy even with the blinds open. Pod Jezem looks unassuming from outside, but this was a special place to stay, and we’ll be back. The town and its sights were within a 20-minute walk. Restaurants, pubs, and trdelnik shops were about 10 minutes away, and walking from the station through deep snow took only 15-20 minutes. The kitchen had all sorts of utensils, cookware, dishes, pans, a stove, a kettle, a fridge, and even a coffee grinder. It was great for cooking and eating beneath the romantic skylight. There was also a washing machine and television, though the town’s sights made us want to spend our time outside. By the front door, a fragrant timber fireplace was there to warm our hands and faces after coming in from the winter cold.
