Pension Medvídek

I have never left a review before, but this was like a bad dream. The rooms were cold as a fridge and dark, the walls seemed to be made of polystyrene boards, and there was no toilet in the room. There was a smell of waste everywhere. They really need to put some money into the place. Anyone who chooses to spend a holiday here can't be right in the head 👁 Running accommodation this way nowadays is truly beyond compare. Sadly, there are several places like this in Klínovec. See the Johanka guesthouse. I ended up here because we were in Klínovec for work with a construction company, and I chose the middle option so the stay wouldn't feel like a family holiday. That's all.

From the hillside, the house looks out over the beautiful Oberwiesenthal valley, and the location is good. The hotel could use some renovation, though it has what you need. The rooms are plain but roomy enough for adults and kids. The ground-floor lounge is warmed by a wood-burning stove. The ski room has no heat, but there are large heaters in some rooms and in the hallway that work well for drying ski gear.

The breakfast and dinner were okay, but the room was another matter. It was cramped, dark, and very small, basically a converted sauna with tiny windows. The bathroom wasn't much better, with no ventilation, and the toilet was out in the hallway.

The owner is friendly and accommodating, and breakfast is adequate. Still, the rooms and furniture feel dated, and the house gets rather uncomfortable in winter. If you're after a low-budget stay, it could work. It feels a lot like a youth hostel...
