Hotel Ferdinand

The rooms are outdated, and breakfast was a bit poor, with cold eggs and the like. Getting a parking spot felt like a gamble.

The staff were helpful, and I appreciated that they put a mini fridge in our room because my medication has to be kept cold. They did point out that it normally costs extra, but let me have it free for the medication. Even the night receptionist tried to be nice. Still, after breakfast and a walk around the colonnade, we went home rather than spend another night somewhere we felt so uncomfortable. We received the stay as a gift, but if I got the voucher again, I'd let it expire instead of coming back. The hotel made me feel like I'd gone back in time, and not in a good way. It looked like it had been renovated in the 1990s and left untouched since. My mattress sagged, the old white wardrobe was worn, and the room felt like an old hospital room. They promised spa town elegance, but I didn't even wash my hair because there was no hairdryer to borrow, and the only bathroom socket was for a razor. The “rich breakfast buffet” was basic muesli, a roll, bread, sliced cheese, ham, salami and hard boiled eggs. There was some jam, at least. Maybe they hadn't heard of breakfast vegetables, or maybe they had all been eaten, since nobody was refilling the buffet. The coffee tasted like sour Melta. Our price included a coffee and dessert voucher, which I regretted after breakfast. There was no cappuccino, only espresso, lungo or Turkish coffee. I'd rather pay for coffee at the colonnade. It was also hard to sort out the massages. When we arrived, they gave us a fixed time, and the language barrier meant we couldn't arrange another one. We skipped the procedures because we wanted a full day trip and didn't want to return at 12 for a massage. I gave two stars for the staff's willingness and the superficial cleanliness. There was dust in the closet and cobwebs and dirt behind the bed, although it looked clean at first glance. Otherwise, I'd have given one, because I never give zero.

It's so relaxing here that we don't even want to go home tomorrow. The food is luxurious, the procedures are great, and the staff are nice and helpful. The hotel is quiet and clean, and we're very satisfied with everything. We highly recommend it and will come again. Thanks so much for everything in advance! 🥰
