Parkhotel Forest

A small, cute hotel in a quiet spot by the forest. The staff were very friendly, the spa treatments were good, and the Czech food was hearty. They speak Czech, German, and English.

The hotel felt professional and comfortable, and the treatments were very professionally done. I definitely recommend them. The food was cooked and presented very well, and the waiters were polite and attentive. I'd have liked more choice, especially fish. Still, it was good value for money.

The room was very clean, the staff friendly, and breakfast good. You can park for free right by the entrance.

The cleanliness of the room, its modern bathroom, easy check-in, and the video-monitored parking were all positives. Still, we wouldn't stay here again. The beds felt worn and uncomfortable, and dinner, which mattered a lot to us when choosing the hotel, fell well short of expectations. We booked half-board for a weekend at Parkhotel Forest. On the first evening, we arrived at 6 p.m. and were seated with a stranger without warning, though other tables were free. It was unpleasant for everyone. We complained at reception, but didn't get our own table until breakfast two days later, on departure day. The following morning we were seated with someone again. Dinner on arrival day had five courses: a beetroot starter, pumpkin soup, boiled beef with light cream sauce and dumplings, coconut cake, and salad. The taste wasn't what we expected. We are lactose intolerant, so couldn't eat some parts, especially the soup and sauce, and no alternatives were offered or dietary needs checked in advance. All five courses came within about 30 minutes. We skipped the second dinner in our half-board package and ate out instead, though we were still charged for the included dinners. Breakfast was generally acceptable but could be better. Since the restaurant was a key reason for booking, we'd choose another hotel in Marienbad next time.
