The key problem only became clear when I tried to get back in: the sign with the access code was on a door I hadn’t used when I left for dinner, and nobody had told me at check-in that my two keys wouldn’t get me into the hotel after 10 pm. I was already checked in, but ended up locked out for two hours, from 10 pm until midnight on a cold February night. A neighbor who used to work at the hotel happened to help me get inside. That was pure luck. They really need to explain the entry arrangements better.

The building has a lovely location and lots of character, and the staff were friendly. But the stay fell short in several ways, and I can’t recommend it overall. We booked through the official Czech tourism office after management confirmed the hotel was wheelchair accessible. It wasn’t: there were steps at reception, narrow doorways, a bathroom too small for a wheelchair, and no shower chair. Our ground floor room had no AC, so we kept the windows open and could hear other guests outside and the restaurant. Breakfast tables were wobbly, and we were served chocolate that was already expired. The staff seemed disorganised, and for the price I expected more. At checkout, a car was blocking the entrance. When I asked the driver to move it, he refused, insulted me openly, and then ignored me.
