It was okay.

We got washed away at Antýgl, so I quickly found a guesthouse near Trout and booked a room. We arrived in the morning before setting off, but the lady had one ready for us right away. She lent us heaters to dry our sleeping bags, and we dried the tent in the hallway. We stayed a week and didn’t regret it. She was so pleasant and helped us with everything. We had our dog with us and that wasn’t a problem either. We’re just sorry it’s closed, and don’t know why. If it opens again, we’ll come straight back. 😏

This is an affordable guesthouse for the location, and it met our needs for one night. We expected older facilities, and since it was a weekday out of season, we figured it would be pretty quiet. But we didn’t expect no heating in a Šumava guesthouse while nighttime temperatures were still dropping below zero. For a two-bedroom room, we got one portable heater. The duvets were warm and we’re not fussy, so we managed a fairly cool night. If it had been really cold, I’d have asked an employee for another heater. Breakfast was the worst part, though. The dining room wasn’t heated and, in our opinion, was at most 8 degrees Celsius. Traveling with a two-year-old and a two-month-old baby, that was quite an experience. :) I understand energy is expensive, but then raise the price or close for the season! I’m adding a star because breakfast was good and had a full selection, even though we were the only guests. Another star for letting us check in early, leaving the car in the yard after checkout, and for the lady who found our charger while cleaning and hung it on the car handle. If you just need somewhere to sleep on a trip and don’t mind old, hostel-type facilities, that’s fine. But come in summer or in winter when it’s hot. Definitely nothing in between. :)
