Horský hotel Portáš

The setting around here is beautiful, and it was a lovely place for a hiking break. We could pay by card, the bathroom was okay, and you order at the bar. The coffee was decent and the craft cider was very good. The blueberry dumplings with quark sauce were the highlight, absolutely delicious. We’d tried them at Kohutka the day before, but these were better, with less dough, more filling, and more sauce.

We’ve been here three times now, and the service keeps getting better. Stay for two nights and you can use the outdoor swimming pool.

The bar restaurant has a cozy interior, and the Wi-Fi actually works. The food was good, especially the blueberry dumplings and halušky gnocchi with melted bryndza cheese and tempeh. Service wasn’t especially friendly, though. Still, it’s a place I’d recommend for food or a drink after cross-country skiing 🎿.

The e-bike charging station wasn’t working, and the staff ignored my request to switch it on. They said they’d ask the owners to turn it on, then told me to be patient when I checked again five minutes later. I waited another 15 minutes and finished my beer, but it still wasn’t charging, so I left. They didn’t offer to charge the battery inside. The reply to this review says they did, but that isn’t true. I’d have gladly accepted if they had offered. Next time, staff should say the charger isn’t working and put up an out-of-order sign, instead of asking people to wait while they try to turn it on.
