Hotel Ostrov

The restaurant and service were good, and I had the salmon about three times. The air conditioning didn't work, though maybe I'm just spoiled as an American. The pool tables worked, but they're old and the rails are dead. Drink prices seemed reasonable everywhere. I wish guests had an exception for a Czech Republic fishing license since the river is right there. Getting a temporary license took too much effort for a stay of just four nights. Still, I had a good experience overall.

For a hotel that costs this much in Czech Republic, I expected better. I stayed three nights, and for two of them I was in a room with a broken shower before they moved me. They said I'd pay less for those two nights, which seemed fair. But when it was time to pay, they told me the same thing again and then charged me the same price as my colleagues. That promise turned out to be a lie.

The showers, toilets, and room were clean, and the staff were kind and ready to help with any questions. We had a great time, and I would recommend staying here. Still, the place felt old to me, with a bit of a 1990s feel, and it wasn't especially cheap. The little details need attention. For instance, the bedside lamp was twisted around, and it took me about four minutes to fix it myself. I wasn't sure how many stars to give, but settled on three because of the age and price. You could say I might have driven farther to find somewhere cheaper, but when you pay for a service, you expect what you paid for. There are things they could improve.

It was a quiet place and just what we needed. The bar shut early, and they didn't restock the mini bar. My window didn't have a net, so I got bitten a lot, while others had nets.
