Clarion Congress Hotel Olomouc

It gave me the impression of a business-class hotel, and that first impression held up right through to the end.

We loved how quiet the hotel was, even though it’s right next to the train station. We never heard trains or neighbors, perhaps because the older building has thick walls and doors. Breakfast was included and good. Try the spinach egg crepes. We hadn’t realized we’d booked a suite, so that was a fun surprise. It was fabulous, with two double beds in one room, a living room, and a large entryway with closets and space for suitcases. The bathroom was very clean and everything looked new. There were a couple of stains on the white couch, so I covered them with a blanket from the closet. The room also had a fridge. The air conditioning was like the Marriott’s we’ve stayed at, weak but adequate. I always appreciate all-white bedding and comforters. I’d recommend the hotel and really enjoyed the quiet and extra space.

The service here is excellent, and it’s one of the best hotels in the city. It’s near the main train station and a bit far from the city center, but public transport makes it easy to get there.

It’s only a minute’s walk from the train station, with tram and bus stops right in front if you don’t want to walk. There’s also a supermarket and some restaurants nearby. The building is beautiful, and my room was wonderful. It was clean, with modern furniture, a comfortable bed and pillows, a shower over a tub, an iron, a fridge, plus water and sweets. The chairs were stained, though. Breakfast was good and varied, and the staff at check-in and check-out were super kind. My only real negative was getting help with the AC. The young woman I spoke to was polite, but seemed quite annoyed and not very keen to help when I asked to turn it off. It wasn’t the noise or temperature that bothered me. The filtered air gives me a sore throat, funny voice, runny nose, and constant sneezing. That lasted another 4 days after my stay. In the end I stayed in the dark with the window open, since I didn’t want to ask again and face that annoyance. She was polite, at least. I’d still recommend the hotel, and I’d stay there again if I return to Olomouc.
