Our group was unhappy with the hotel, and when our meetings were nearly finished, we politely asked the receptionist if we could cancel the last night and get our money back. He called his manager and then the director, and said they couldn’t decide right then, maybe they could, maybe not. We were due to check out the next morning, so leaving this until the last minute was shocking. He said that if I were alone, he’d refund me, but because we were a large group, it wasn’t possible. What happened to a standard approach and customer satisfaction? When I said I was unhappy and wouldn’t recommend the hotel for our next meetings, he replied that if I didn’t like it, I could look elsewhere. Another shock. Please take this experience into account when choosing where to stay in Pardubice. We had spent almost twelve hours getting to Pardubice, and after that exhausting trip we checked in. As the group leader, I was sorting out our rooms and luggage and asked the man at reception if he could call a suggested restaurant to make a reservation. He refused and wasn’t polite, saying, “We don’t have such kind of services.” Fine, no problem. The rooms generally had three separate single beds, no air conditioning, no hair dryer, and so on. The corridors were dark and the lights weren’t working properly. The toilet in my room was still dirty, and I told the receptionist right away. After the first day I put the green label on my door for room cleaning. When I got back, even the trash hadn’t been emptied. I asked the same receptionist whether rooms were cleaned daily. He said they weren’t, and towels and bedspreads weren’t changed unless guests stayed more than 5 days. Disgusting. It felt more like a hostel with limited services such as breakfast. I can’t believe the place got a good score on booking.com. Did you think that was the end of our story? Nope.
