The main reason for our low rating was the trouble we had during the week. On the first day, the drain backed up. The woman looking after the cottage bought drain cleaner instead of calling a plumber, and it clogged again two days later. It seemed to have been an ongoing issue, so dealing with it for our whole stay was unpleasant. We were also charged what she called air fares for the children. We later checked with the city office in Jindřichův Hradec and were told children don't pay those fares. The amount wasn't much, but it left us feeling that she wanted to make money any way she could. The cottage itself is actually called "U Hasnedlů", not "U Floriana". The furnishings were basic but acceptable. The sauna and jacuzzi didn't work, billiard balls kept falling out, the doors were hard to shut, and the downstairs rooms smelled damp. A few repairs are needed. Energy costs were quite high, even though we were out on trips most of the day. We should have recorded the meter readings when we arrived and asked about the rate beforehand, since it wasn't listed in the contract.
The sauna and pool were great, though the whirlpool could've been cleaner. The kitchenette had an oven and kettle, and we got by with the plates, though a few more would've helped. It's a quiet spot, but the smell from the nearby cowshed may bother some people.
I've never stayed anywhere worse. The room was damp and smelled of the cowshed, the sheets and hot tub were dirty, and the duvets looked like they'd come from the Bolshevik era.
The owner promised us all sorts of things, but I feel he cheated local people out of their money. His wife is awful. I don't recommend this place. The rooms are very humid, and people complain about it even in the hottest part of summer.
