Alfons Boutique Hotel

We came to Prague for the first time in late November and early December to get an early taste of the Christmas atmosphere. The hotel had a lovely feel, and we had a very pleasant stay. Metro and tram stops were only a three-minute walk away, and breakfast was varied and delicious. Anna at the front desk was especially helpful. I also loved the memory foam pillows, and appreciated being able to choose how firm the pillows were. Highly recommend.

My wife and I booked the Alfons Hotel through our travel agent for our 40th anniversary trip to Prague. The agent uses Bedsonline, which recommended the hotel, but the accommodation was nothing like its description. We were put in a tiny top-floor room with only a small pop-up ceiling window. The lift stopped one floor below, leaving 12 steep steps to climb with our luggage. I’d recently had knee surgery and asked for help, but was told none was available. The front desk person was abrupt and rude, and said the hotel was fully booked with no other room. Our agent spoke with the front desk and agreed there was a problem. He helped us find more suitable accommodation and said he would file a report with Bedsonline. Finding the new place took a couple of hours, and we lost almost a day of our anniversary trip. It cost $600 more for four nights than the Alfons. I injured my operated knee going up and down those stairs with our bags. We sent a detailed report with names, details, and photos. More than two months later, our agent forwarded messages showing Bedsonline had barely responded, even after follow-ups. They eventually said they had investigated and closed the report, offering a 20% goodwill refund without contacting us to discuss what happened. The message to our agent came from Samantha Gillingham. He gave me her and Tommy Ryder’s phone numbers. I called Mr. Ryder several times and left a message, but got no reply. Samantha Gillingham was curt and told me I shouldn’t have been given her number. I explained that all I wanted was a refund of the full four-night Alfons charge, since we didn’t stay there. She took my details and said she’d get back to me. A week later, neither she nor Tommy Ryder had contacted me. After this awful experience, I do not recommend booking through Bedsonline. The customer service was terrible, as was the business model and ethics.

We loved staying here. The hotel was beautiful and tastefully decorated, and our room was spacious and luxurious. The receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay, and really made the experience. It was also very convenient for public transport and a great base for a Prague trip.

Stylish, classy, and extremely clean, with a great location. The design draws on Alfons Mucha’s artwork, and I really couldn’t fault the hotel. Room service was the one downside, as it was extremely expensive. Management might want to rethink those high charges.
