Alqush Hotel Downtown

Breakfast was the nicest surprise. There was a wide selection, much like a larger hotel, and everything stayed available until the end of service. The coffee was good and the bacon was cooked just right. The room also exceeded my expectations: it was roomier than the pictures suggested, with a huge bed and firm mattress, plus a large bathroom with a bidet and no mold. Everything was very clean, and I liked the Eastern European style. The staff were polite and helpful, and most spoke English. The area was quiet. It took us about 20-25 minutes to walk to what we needed, or around 15 minutes by public transport, so it isn't the place if you want every attraction within a five-minute walk. For the price, it's a great stay and we'd come back.

The luggage storage after checkout was especially handy. For 25 CZK, we left our bags at the hotel and picked them up later, so our last day was easy. My sister and I stayed at Alqush Downtown Hotel, and the welcoming staff made us feel well looked after. The rooms were spotless and the mattress was very comfortable. It was convenient for getting around, with a metro station and bus services nearby. Breakfast was delicious and satisfying, too. We had a pleasant, memorable visit and I'd recommend Anqush Downtown Hotel to anyone coming to Prague.

The staff and cleanliness were the best parts of our four-day girls' trip. I forgot my glasses and some medicine, and the hotel sent everything to Denmark. Thank you! The hotel suggested downloading the BOLT app, and getting a driver within minutes was easy, since the location felt farther from Old Town than we'd expected. Our rooms were fine. Breakfast was included, but the selection was very limited and the bread was dry, so for the price it was just okay. I'd happily return, though probably without breakfast.

For the price, the location is probably the main draw. Alqush Downtown Hotel is a short walk from the centre and river, and the vintage look initially has a certain charm. The rooms have antique-style furnishings, but the beds weren't comfortable: the foam mattresses were firm, and the single beds in double rooms felt narrow. Breakfast was a basic buffet, enough to get going but not much beyond that. Service was another weak point. The receptionist, who looked like a Czech Slim Shady, came across as cold and begrudging, at times close to rude. Housekeeping also seemed overlooked. The bathroom fixtures looked neglected, and a coffee cup from the complimentary setup was left unwashed after we used it the day before. One of our rooms was tucked away in what felt like a hotel service area, isolated and oddly out of place for guests. It's an inexpensive option for a short stay if you can live with the lack of comfort and warmth, but there isn't much else to recommend.
