The apartment itself was clean and nice, and the small lift was useful on the fourth floor. There was some street noise, but it faded later in the evening. The bigger problem came at 2:30 a.m.: people in the apartment above screamed and dragged furniture across the floor until 4:30. I emailed the property manager and got no answer by phone; Barboro replied the next morning at 9 and assured us the next night would be better. It wasn't. More shouting and furniture noise kept us awake again. Two sleepless nights for $950 is unacceptable. We stayed in Apt #41 for two nights in October, and there was no microwave. Barboro's response was neither timely nor effective. I won't stay here again. Look elsewhere, perhaps Maiselova Aprtmemt.
We had to pack up mid-stay, move to a lesser apartment, wash and iron all our clothes, and fumigate our suitcases. It caused a lot of stress and disrupted our trip. My sister and I each ended up with around 10-15 bites, and some were bad enough to leave scars. On the third morning in Apartment 42 at Charles Apartments in Old Town, I found a bed bug in the upstairs bed we were sharing. Management inspected and brought in an exterminator, who confirmed the infestation. They moved us, but the replacement was smaller, had one fewer bathroom, and didn't have the view or outdoor space included in our original booking. We contacted Hotels.com and asked for the first two nights to be refunded, plus a rate adjustment for the downgraded room. Charles Apartments gave us only half a day back. Given the health, financial, and logistical impact, that was extremely disappointing and showed little concern for guest safety, sanitation, or basic service. Moving us alone didn't address the risks or the lower quality of the stay. Steer clear.
Prague is a fantastic place, but I'd tell people not to stay here. We quickly found another place so our visit wouldn't be ruined. The apartment we got didn't match any of the booking site's photos. When we arrived, it was unclean, with rubbish and dirty towels in every room, and the sofa was broken. The owner apologized and said it would be ready, but that meant waiting 3.5 hours past check-in, which wasn't convenient. We felt the apartment had been misrepresented. We're experienced travelers and don't complain much, but this was too much. Very disappointing and expensive. ⅕
We stayed Friday through Monday. The apartment was roomy, clean, comfortable, and had plenty of useful amenities. Entry instructions were clear, and most of the main sights were within a 20-minute walk. Noise was the main downside. There's bass-heavy music from the shop below until at least 11 p.m., people shouting outside at all hours, and noisy neighbors coming and going late. I realize the owner can't control all of that, but perhaps the apartment could be better soundproofed. If you're a light sleeper, I wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise, I would.
Loved our stay, and the rooftop balcony was a great feature. The place was beautifully appointed. 😎
