EA Hotel Juliš

The one thing this hotel has going for it is the location, close to Old Town, restaurants and shops. I wouldn't recommend it otherwise. On my second trip to Prague, this was the worst hotel I've stayed in. It was worn out and dirty, and the photos were misleading. The bed was the worst I've ever slept in, and my partner and I could barely sleep. Electrical outlets and lights were broken, as was the bathtub. It was so high that getting in and out with wet feet felt dangerous. The toilet had no ventilation and smelled musty after showering. There were silverfish on the floor, and it was extremely noisy. We could hear the neighbors talking and doors opening and closing.

Breakfast was surprisingly decent, with good quality and variety, but it couldn't make up for the rest of a disappointing stay. The spacious room was about the only other positive. There was mold and a hair in the bathroom, the minibar was empty, and the small, old TV had poor picture quality. The place felt neglected and poorly maintained, not up to a four-star standard. At check-in, the receptionist ignored my reservation for a large double bed and gave me two singles instead. He offered no upgrade or solution, and charged €10 more than my booking confirmation stated.

Being right in the middle of things is a plus if that's what you're after. We could also bring our rental e-bikes into the room at night, and the laundry service was very accommodating. We booked for the pool, so finding out on arrival that it was closed for renovations was a real disappointment. The clean room felt dated, with a few things that need attention. The AC was weak, though it was brisk enough outside to open the windows. Otherwise the room would have been stifling. There was only a shampoo and body wash combo, no hair conditioner. Breakfast was lacking, so we ate out each morning. For me, it's a basic place to sleep, not much else, and I'd give it 3 stars.

The location is perfect, but that's all I can say for it. The pool was out of order even though it was advertised as fully functional, and no one told us. The hotel also recalculated the Booking.com price in euros into CZK using its own exchange rate, which made the CZK total clearly higher than agreed. After paying by credit card, we were charged €25 more. It felt like a scam with the exchange rate. There was no hot water on the last day, and breakfast was average.
