Hotel Galileo Prague

The location made the stay for me. A tram stop is just a couple of minutes away, with a 14-minute ride to the old town square, and there are plenty of good places to eat, bars and shops within a five-minute walk. The rooms are well equipped, and breakfast should suit most people, apart from the coffee. I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked, but I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Prague.

The rooms are roomy, and they even provide slippers. Breakfast was pretty good too. Old Town Square is about a 25-minute walk, so it's easy enough to get there. The interior is kept up well, though it looks dated, and the TVs could use an upgrade. It's an okay hotel.

Getting a taxi to the airport on my last day was easy, as the staff were helpful arranging one. I didn't fancy dealing with public transport at its busiest. I slept well because the beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet, though my top-floor room in the older section felt a bit cramped because of the sloped ceiling. The TV didn't have much to watch, but that didn't really bother me. Breakfast wasn't my thing, so I just had coffee and orange juice. The breakfast room itself was spacious and modern.

The old hotel is beautiful, but I couldn't live with that noise. In the middle of the night, the wall kept making a sound every few minutes, so how could anyone sleep? I had already switched off the air conditioning, and the front desk said they'd shut off the room's system too, but it kept going. The staff didn't know what was causing it or how to fix it. I suspect the owner will reply with an apology that sounds sympathetic but doesn't lead to any concrete action, leaving the problem unresolved.
