Habitat 16 felt like home, as if a friend was welcoming us into their house. The owner gave brilliant service, and after what happened at the other hostel, I feel he saved our stay in Prague. I’ve travelled to lots of places and can honestly say this was the best service I’ve had. Maybe that sounds exaggerated, but that’s how it felt in our situation. I came from Brazil to Prague to deliver documents at CZU and had booked the cheapest hostel I could find, Capsule Hostel Erbenova in Prague 5. The capsules were uncomfortable and much too hot, even in the first week of December, when the city was cold. After the first hot night, I asked the owner on the second day to turn on the AC. He said that wasn’t possible and I should sort it out myself. He’d only do anything if I spoke with everyone else in the room, and then he might send a technician to turn on the AC, even though there was no remote. We were stressed. For that price we couldn’t expect much, but a little respect would have gone a long way. After walking around the city on the second day, we returned to Erbenova and found that someone had stolen our food from the fridge. The room was still hot and the capsule unbearable, so we quickly looked for somewhere else. I found Habitat 16 on Booking.com, read the reviews, then called the owner and explained what had happened. He assured me I wouldn’t face those problems at his hostel. Once there, we had pleasant surprises. There were maps by the bed, both tourist maps and other useful information. The bathroom had heated floors and a bathtub for relaxing. The beds were super comfortable, and even though it’s in a clearly residential area, the hostel was quiet at night. The rooms felt like a hotel experience at a hostel price. There was a problem with the payment link the owner sent after we arrived. He was lovely about it and told me there was no reason to worry. He said he’d come by the next day to meet me in person and use a payment terminal. Thank you!

The rooms were clean and spacious, though a little dated, and the owner was easy to reach through chat even with self check-in and no reception. It was a good stay for a few days. The setting felt a bit odd, since the hotel sits in the middle of a suburban neighbourhood. Its city-border location is okay, but the nearest metro is a 15-minute walk.

This charming property is a house turned into a hotel, which is a clever idea. The rooms are cozy and well equipped, and the bathroom floor heating was a nice extra. There’s no physical reception, but everything was accessible with a personal code or chip, so we didn’t need one. We could also use the kitchen utensils and garden.

I’d happily pick this place again if I return to Prague. The price and service were very satisfactory, and I’d give the stay 10/10. It’s peaceful and quiet, a little away from the centre’s bustle, which suited me. The room wasn’t huge, but it had what we needed: hangers, an iron, hair dryer, shower gel and soaps. There was a hot kettle with tea and honey, and the bed was clean and really comfortable. A shared kitchen and small garden at the back rounded things out. We found street parking easy, and the facility administrator helped book it before we arrived for around 3.9 euro per day. Check-in was simple and contactless: enter the access code to unlock the main entrance and your room. The stairs were steep and tricky, and there’s apparently no lift, so anyone who struggles with stairs should keep that in mind before booking. The area is serene, though there aren’t major supermarkets close by.

I didn’t actually stay here because our plans changed, which was my fault, not the hotel’s. I’m posting because Google’s hotel listing says “free parking,” but parking here isn’t free. After booking, you’re told it’s paid. The cost is very small, honestly, but I hope the owner can correct the Google information. It’s better to know beforehand than find out later. I bothered writing this because I was caught out by misleading free-parking information at another hotel, and wanted people to know this one charges too. Update: I can’t reply to the owner’s response, so I’m adding this here. Hi owner, I can remove my review once the Google information is fixed. Is that something you can do? It still shows as free parking for me. I don’t know how much control Google gives you over updates, but I hope you’re able to correct it. I and possibly many others use Google’s hotel view for basic research, then book through a site Google mentions, which in this case was booking.com. It’s easy to miss the full details on booking.com after looking things over on Google. I usually filter for “free parking” there, so it’s very easy to miss. Since you say the information on booking.com is correct, I assume you mean well and this was probably just an oversight. I’ll remove this once I see the Google listing updated.
