Hotel Atos

The building is beautiful, an old historic house dating from the 1880s-1920s, with stucco, high ceilings and ornaments worth looking at. It’s at the foot of Petrin hill, a few minutes’ walk from Charle Bridge and the river Vltava. Breakfast is included, and the WiFi is decent even for work. In the off season, the price, quality and location make it a stronger choice than many other options in Prague. One thing to keep in mind: the 5th-floor rooms have tiny windows and are very dark, with no wall insulation, so you can hear neighbours talking. They’re quite different from the lower rooms, which are brighter, quieter and more welcoming.

The location is the only plus. The room was so cramped you could barely walk beside the bed, and it wasn’t worth 100-120 euros. No basic toiletries were provided, not even a toothbrush, toothpaste or shampoo. There was no water bottle in the room either, so I had to buy one at reception. Breakfast was the worst part, the same thing all three days, really boring.

The park next door is beautiful, and the hotel itself is a beautiful old building. But the room smelled dirty. They give you two beds instead of one big bed, so it’s not a good fit for married people on holiday. Breakfast wasn’t great either, though the coffee was okay.

The location and breakfast were good, but don’t expect much quality or service beyond that. Our room smelled like a public toilet, so we reported it straight away and asked to change rooms. The blond guy at reception was careless and completely unhelpful, and we ended up having to stay there. The bathroom sink was clogged, and the floor was old, cheap parquet. The room badly needs refurbishment, and the staff need to be more attentive.
