Hotel Lippert

Being able to walk straight into the Christmas market from our room’s view over Town Square made the stay feel magical. The square was stunning, and despite the crowds and late evenings, we had no noise trouble. Breakfast was enjoyable, especially the lovely bread and cheeses. The room was a good size and comfortable, though it did feel a bit worn and tired.

We only ate at the restaurant, not at the hotel. We’d planned to finish a lovely Prague visit with a cozy dinner for two on September 27, 2025. The setting and menu looked inviting, so we expected to order dessert after our main course. That didn’t happen. Both mains were clearly not good, and we told the staff, but nobody offered an alternative. The service was disappointing, and the table beside us seemed unhappy too. It left us wondering whether tourists who are unlikely to come back simply don’t get much attention, or whether the staff lacked motivation. The salmon was beautifully cooked, genuinely the one bright spot. The rest was either heavily salted or bland. The roast, cabbage, and dumplings, classic Prague-area dishes, arrived cold and lacked flavor. The beer was okay. Honestly, hunger seems to be what keeps tourists coming here.

The man serving at the stand outside the hotel and restaurant was extremely rude when I stopped for mulled wine at the start of the Christmas market yesterday. This used to be one of my favorite places, but after that experience I won’t come back or spend another CZK here. Such a disappointment.

I’m not sure exactly what I was told at first, but after reading the reviews I saw that others seemed to have a similar experience. Here’s what happened to us. We wanted to sit down and try some local food, but the staff member told us tensely that the restaurant was full. He stayed irritated and unfriendly while taking our order. When we said we wanted to eat then, not later in the evening, he said the tables were reserved and only two might be available for immediate dining, although just one table in the restaurant was occupied. We ordered a starter, a main course, cola, and a large water, as well as one soup, which he then said wasn’t available. When the food came, we asked politely for extra plates for the children. He said he couldn’t give them because the boss’s rule was one order, one plate, and that it wasn’t his problem. We reminded him they were children, but he repeated loudly that it wasn’t his problem. We thought he might refuse entirely, but eventually he brought the plates, angrily. We paid and left before finishing the meal. Nothing about this account is exaggerated or inaccurate. He was also rude to the Japanese customers who arrived after us. I’ll be visiting Prague again, but I won’t return to this restaurant or recommend it.
