Hotel Praga 1885

The one real plus for me was the convenient location. The rest of my stay at Praga 1885 was a letdown for a hotel rated 4 stars. The room and bathroom weren't clean, and there were no slippers or disposable toothbrushes. Noise from neighbors, including loud music, went on late. Staff only dealt with it after I complained several times, and even then it took too long. The gym was closed. The PlayStation room was just a console without controllers, and there were no clear instructions for getting them. The mattress was basically a small, thin thing, and my body still hurts. I expected much more and wouldn't recommend staying here.

The location was superb, around a 10-minute walk to the nearest centre, then another 10 minutes by metro or tram to the old town. Inside, the hotel is beautiful and the rooms feel grand. Our radiator worked brilliantly, so we stayed lovely and warm in winter. The staff were great, especially the night shift guy. On our second night I became very unwell and started hyperventilating. He called an ambulance straight away and explained what was happening, since we didn't speak the language and the responders didn't speak English.

The hotel pw calls itself the best hotel, which felt like a joke after our stay. The place is broken and smells of sewage, including the bathroom, which also produces smoke. I can't really confirm everything else that's wrong with the rooms. Service was awful. They give one bottle of water on arrival and none for the rest of your stay, and they argue about everything, from fresh towels to smoke in the room and water. Asians are treated like unfortunate guests and told to drink from the bathroom tap. You pay for each day, but don't get service worth that. We've stayed in much better, cheaper hotels that at least showed some basic hospitality and manners.

Right in the middle of Prague, with the main amenities all an easy walk away. I didn't get to try the food here, but nearby restaurants serve good meals. Smíchovská Krčma is only 5 minutes away and highly recommended.
