Hotel U Jezulatka

We stopped in for lunch and liked the atmosphere, especially the 150-year-old clock in the atrium. The restaurant out back has great views of the river and Charles Bridge. The food was okay, but quite expensive. A 0.4 beer cost 89 CZK, which is a lot. I also don't like servers asking for a tip, then pushing for 15% when you say 10%. I usually tip 20%, but not when someone asks me to.

The breakfast room's view of Charles Bridge was a highlight, and the location is excellent, right by Charles Bridge and the Old Town, with the Castle only a short walk away. The rooms were clean and pleasant, with modern bathrooms and a classic feel. Staff were very friendly. A great place to stay for a Prague trip, and I can highly recommend it.

The breakfast room looks out over Charles Bridge, and the hotel is only about a minute away on foot. Breakfast was simple but covered the basics. I stayed one night on the first weekend of August 2018 and got into my room early, around 11:30, because the previous guests had already left. Simona at reception made check-in quick and easy, handed over the key in under five minutes, then showed me upstairs and explained breakfast hours. My third-floor room was roomy, with a king-sized bed. There’s no elevator. The one annoyance was having to ring the bell each time we wanted to enter the building, though someone usually opened the door after about 30 seconds.

The staff were always friendly and smiling, but there were some odd rules and inconveniences. We had to move our paid parking spot at 12:30 at night. The TV had no channels in languages other than Czech, and even smoking a single cigarette out the window brought a special charge of about €360. Believe it.
