I went in Sept 2025, and once I found Jerusalem Synagogue it went straight onto my Prague list. The exterior is impressive even if you don't enter. Turning onto what looks like an unassuming side street, you suddenly come upon a building full of color, design, and abstract patterns. It's a real work of art. Inside, the ornate decor is full of gold and color, with arches that have an Arabian/Islamic influence and detail tucked into every corner. There are extracts and information about Jewish people displaced and settled in Prague during WW2, and I found them insightful. You can reach the balcony by the exterior stairs, but there's no lift. Entry costs a small fee, which I assume goes toward upkeep, and visitors pass through airport-style security. There are other synagogues to see in the Jewish Quarter of the Nove Mesto district, including Pinkas, Old/New Synagogue, Spanish Synagogue and Zidovske Museum. Buying a combined ticket online saves money if you want to visit all four; individual tickets make more sense if you only want certain places. The synagogue is a must-see whether you're religious or not.

The color and design left my family in awe. We hadn't even noticed the synagogue at first until I pointed it out. Inside, there's useful history about individuals involved in the war, and you can go up to the top level for another view. Men are expected to cover their heads as a sign of respect. They provide a covering if you don't have one.

I'd lived in Prague for three years before stumbling across this tucked-away gem. It's on a narrow street near the center, with beautiful architecture and a calm feel. Definitely worth a look.

The staff were the letdown for me. Apart from one really nice woman, they came across as rude and a bit paranoid. We had paid and were walking upstairs when a woman demanded, “show me your ticket”, without a please or a smile. Still, the synagogue itself is stunning, with beautiful architecture and decoration. Worth a visit in Prague, and I enjoyed it despite the rudeness.
