La Boutique Hotel

The room had a lovely bathroom, decent facilities and a very comfortable bed. It was quiet in the evenings since the hotel is a little outside town, though you’ll need a tram or taxi to get to and from the centre. It was very hot during our visit, and the climate control didn’t have enough power to cool the room properly. Service was fine, just not especially friendly.

The breakfast had a good range of hot and cold food, fruit, yogurt, cereal and drinks, and reception staff were friendly and happy to chat or help. Our room was in the other building, about a five-minute walk from the main one. We knew that when booking, and it was fine. It’s a bit farther from the underground, but close to the Vltava, with lovely walking routes along the river. The hotel is near the city centre; you can walk there if you’re reasonably fit, or take the underground for a couple of stops. The room itself was simple but clean and comfortable, with a small fridge and tea and coffee facilities, though you need to bring your own supplies. The bathroom was clean and had nice fixtures. At €25 a night, it was a bargain. I’m sure there are more luxurious hotels, but probably not at this price. For value, I’d give it 11/10.

Our top-floor room at La Boutique Hotel had slanted ceilings and felt a bit like an attic conversion. It was clean and comfortable, though a little expensive for what it was. The location worked really well for us, close to everything we needed, and we had a pleasant stay.

I left very unhappy with the manager and night receptionist, whose customer service was atrocious. The heating in our room didn’t work. The manager said it would be fixed, but when we returned that night it still wasn’t, so I asked the night receptionist, Adam, for help. He dismissed the issue, said nobody had told him, told me to apply for compensation, then put in his AirPods. He looked like he didn’t want to be there and made no effort to hide it. If he hates the job that much, he should look for another one. I said I wasn’t after compensation and asked for another room so my pregnant wife and I could get one decent night’s sleep after a long day. The next morning I tried to complain to the manager about Adam. He kept looking at his computer and said he had too much work to deal with me, because he had to handle the “bloody italians.” He said he and Adam were overworked and told me to take complaints to the travel agent, even though I’d booked directly and had no agent involved. There were two other guests behind me, which was embarrassing, so I gave up and checked out. I’ll never come back.
