Pension Hanspaulka

It’s peaceful, well cared for, and nicely kept, with free parking and budget friendly prices. We spent several days on the ground floor and had a great stay. Being near the cafeteria was especially handy when there were only a few guests. The owner speaks good Russian, calls back, and allowed a late checkout, though we didn’t need it. He wouldn’t let us in before the agreed time. You can walk to the Old Town in about twenty-five minutes from this mini-hotel, which is in the area its name suggests. The return walk is steep uphill, so I’d take public transport instead. There’s a nearby bus to the Boryslavka metro station, I think. Internet was poor, but only on the ground floor.

The night before I was due to leave, the owner called to say there was no room for me, despite my Booking.com reservation. He didn’t try to arrange another option and just said I’d probably have to find somewhere myself. I find that unacceptable, and it leaves me no choice but to leave a bad review.

The room with the shower cubicle against the wall was fantastic. Getting around was easy too, with the city center about 15 minutes away by public transport. The place could have been cleaner, though. I’d still recommend it.

The shower in the room is a nice touch, but it doesn’t make up for how dirty and disgusting the place was. The room can’t be 3x3... there’s no privacy, and the toilet is out in the hallway, supposedly just for our room. We work all over the Czech Republic as self-employed people, and this was the worst room we’ve had so far. I don’t recommend it.
