Hotel Prague Star

The hotel felt warm and cozy even with snow falling outside on our last morning. Its location was fabulous, and we had a lovely three-night stay. I’d been a bit doubtful after reading the reviews, but we were really happy with it. Our budget double, room 104, suited us perfectly since we only needed it to sleep and shower. The bed was so comfortable, and after walking 10 miles, the shower was just what we needed. There was plenty of storage and hanging space, and despite being right by the lift, I didn’t hear doors banging. Budget rooms don’t have kettles, but reception gave us a thermos of hot water when we asked, which worked well for our tea. There was also a mini fridge for milk and a few drinks we picked up at Lidl. Breakfast was an odd mix, but there was plenty to choose from: cereals, tea and coffee, bread, fruit, pastries, chicken wings, sausages, nicely cooked scrambled eggs, meats and cheeses, rice and pasta salads, and even fish fingers. We asked the hotel to arrange a transfer. The driver was great, it cost 890Kr each way and took about 25 minutes. We’d definitely book here again.

We never felt unsafe, even though the street has a few red light businesses alongside two good pubs. The hotel is well placed for the old town and the Metro, and breakfast had loads on offer. It was good value for money. Our only gripes were the slow drains and the shower, which had no door and left the floor wet.

The receptionists were especially welcoming, and breakfast was decent. Reception is staffed around the clock, which was handy. The hotel is in Prague's new town, with Charles Bridge and a few other good places about a 15-20 minute walk away. A nice hotel with very good service. I'd recommend it.

The staff were a pleasure to see every time, always polite and friendly, and the desk was staffed 24 hours a day. Breakfast was great, with a big assortment: corn on the cob, pastries, yoghurt, pizza, eggs, chicken strips and salad, so there was something for everyone. I booked this at the last minute for a Christmas holiday. The location made it easy to walk around the Old Town and get trains at the station. We had an interior room without a window, which worked out well. A kettle would have been a nice addition, especially since I saw them in other rooms while doors were propped open for cleaning. The shower door felt a little flimsy, but otherwise the room was good. Highly recommend!
