The apartment itself was awful. It was filthy, with dust clumps behind the beds and on the mezzanine. The plates and cutlery needed rewashing before we could eat, and the table was incredibly sticky. The shower was so cramped that the curtain kept touching you, and the mattresses barely deserved the name. We were in apartment Stella, traveling as a family. This was one of the worst stays I’ve had in 10 or 15 years, and those earlier bad stays were in very cheap hotels. This place wasn’t cheap, either. You might think it’s a bargain, but it’ll still feel overpriced. I’d be furious if I were Italian and saw it called "Casa Italia". The owner, I assume, though I’m not sure what his role was, came across as arrogant and seemed to have no regard for the apartments. When we mentioned that a chair was so fragile we were worried it would break if someone sat on it, he didn’t appreciate hearing about it. We were only trying to let him know, especially since a note in the apartment invited feedback, or something along those lines. We also had a hard time getting a refund after being charged about 100€ more than we should have. The discount shown in the confirmation email hadn’t been applied. Since you give them your card details and they charge you, that can be a real problem if the staff are incompetent or dishonest, I can’t say which. Is there anything else I need to say? Don’t go there!

Otherwise, it’s a standard AirBnB apartment, but I wouldn’t stay here in winter. The only heating in the two-bedroom place was an old AC, which had only been switched on when we arrived. Even right beside it, the highest temperature we got was 18°C.

We left the apartment as we found it and even gathered up all the rubbish, but they still refused to return my deposit after clearly saying they would. That felt completely dishonest and was unacceptable. The place was in terrible shape when we arrived: there was no heating, the bathroom was dirty and everything felt neglected. Having read the many similar complaints in other reviews, I understand why. This was one of the worst accommodation experiences I’ve had. I strongly recommend staying away. Their treatment of guests felt unprofessional and unethical, and the whole stay was a nightmare.

The room was filthy. Mold covered the shower walls, the corridor smelled of piss, and the floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The bed was broken and held together with tape. With tape. Have some pride and stop reporting honest reviews. When we complained, the employee said the cleaning ladies didn’t care about the state of the rooms. Booking.com and we tried to reach you, and you said you’d reimburse us. A month has gone by and you’re still ignoring our messages, leaving us on read. We told you that if you kept ignoring us, we’d post our honest view on Google. Now you’re reporting this review and, from what I’m reading, other people’s reviews too. Mine is my only review, and you said there were many more. You keep the rooms filthy and then delete all the negative comments. It doesn’t get much lower than that.

The best thing about this place is its location: close to Lidl, the subway and a tram stop that got us to lots of places in Prague. It wasn’t expensive, but next time I’d rather pay more for decent conditions. The bathroom was unusable for much of our stay because the shower water was icy, and we couldn’t get hot water elsewhere in the apartment either. At first nobody responded when we reported it. After I asked again, I was told the owner knew about the problem and 'is working on it. We were given keys to another apartment that was supposed to have hot water, so we had to cross the courtyard to use a different bathroom and come back wet. Not ideal, but better than cold showers. The toilet flush also broke after a day. The person I contacted said to fiddle with the toilet box, but that did nothing. Sometimes the flush worked, and sometimes we had to pour water into the toilet. It was a real hassle. The apartment itself was dirty. The dishes were sticky and had food on them, so we had to wash everything before eating. There was grime in the floor corners, plus spiders and dust. At first glance it seemed okay, but the dirt showed once we tried to use things. There was mold on the bathroom wall, and the door was soggy at the bottom, wouldn’t close all the way, and left us without proper privacy. Wet cardboard was flaking off it and making it impossible to keep the bathroom floor clean. There was a bad start with the city tax, too. We paid it, and the cleaning lady was supposed to give us the change back later. A day went by and we still hadn’t got it. It wasn’t much money, but it was the principle. If the rest of the apartment had been okay, I wouldn’t have made a fuss. But the dirt, mold and unusable bathroom were too much. We only got the money back after contacting someone responsible for our stay.
