Residence Glamour Excellent

We expected the two apartments we booked with friends to connect, but they turned out to be separate. The listing photos show a superior room and didn’t match what we got. There was no terrace or garden at the property, despite being listed as a facility. The badly designed balconies had to stay shut from 10 pm to 7 am to avoid a 200 eur fee, and seemed monitored by CCTV (I guess). You couldn't be out there with more than 2 people. Some showers were broken and unusable, some windows wouldn't open, and the free toiletries were limited to soap and toilet paper, so we had to buy everything else. The deposit had to be paid in cash, with no other option. Getting inside was awkward too: the doors were really heavy and the keys barely worked. They say the property is 200 m sq, but it definitely wasn't, maybe 150 at best and probably less. There was no privacy with all the glass doors. It also had no air conditioning, which was awful during the heatwave. We booked for exactly the number of guests who came, but still didn’t get enough towels or bedding for everyone, and the mattress was uncomfortable. With the high price, we expected something very different. We were unhappy with the stay and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

We stayed in the top apartment with a group, booked through AirBB. It was adequate and we had a nice stay, but it lacked some thoughtful touches for a place that sleeps up to 13. The worst part was the couch upstairs, awful to sit on and not functional. The coffee machine was another complaint.

Inside, the apartment layout worked well, and the location felt safe. But I hadn’t realized until arriving that our room was on ground level. The bedroom door opens onto a side street, and with my teenage kids there it made me uneasy, even though we never used it. We could hear people coming and going all night. Sometimes people would stand in the hallway chatting loudly for a good 20 minutes. Light sleepers should avoid it.

The noise was awful, and we barely felt rested. We were on the ground floor and heard doors, stairs, people talking in the street, and traffic. It also sounded like little elephants were in the room above. On the first night, loud guests arrived around 4am and spent an hour shouting and banging about. The next night we were woken at 1am, 3am and 4am, then again at 0730 by people outside our room. The final night, we were disturbed at 5am. Location-wise, Charles Bridge is a 15-20 minute walk, or the tram stop is 3 minutes away. The apartment was spacious and clean, with a comfy bed, sofa, well-equipped kitchenette, washing machine and tumble drier. The rainfall shower was lovely, but the short screen let water splash everywhere. There’s a squeegee, though the tiny step into the shower makes cleanup harder. The Wi-Fi was slow, so we had to use data to research our trip. It could use some TLC, with scuff marks on the walls. The beige and brown decor felt duller than pictured, and we kept the curtains closed because you could see inside even with the blinds down.
